SPECIAL COMMENDATIONS
With a high standard of nominations for this year's ACCA Achievement Awards, we are delighted to announce special commendations to two individuals who have made a considerable impact in the accountancy profession.
MRS CORNELIA FEYER, ROMANIA
Cornelia Feyer, BPP's liaison manager for ACCA students, has been working with BPP Professional Education for over 10 years and has had a significant role in developing ACCA's administrative, training and development functions in Romania - earning wide praise and gratitude from trainees. Mrs Feyer has succeeded in communicating a strong image of ACCA in the country. By opening the qualification to a wide range of industries, BPP has obtained ACCA training contracts with over 200 top companies in Romania.
MRS EVELYN KAMAGAJU RUTAGWENDA, RWANDA
When Evelyn Rutagwenda was appointed to the role of auditor general in August 2004, there were fewer than 20 qualified accountants in the country. Mrs Rutagwenda identified that the only way for the country to develop and to be competitive amongst nations was to develop a professional group of accountants who would assure investors that the country was 'ready for business'. It was this vision and leadership that led to the establishment of training programmes for professional accountants, and a legal and regulatory framework for the profession in Rwanda.
